THEY...

He had been waiting for about thirty minutes,
She walked in as he was about to tip the waiter.
So many unsaid but deeply felt words hung loosely in the air,
They had to let out the steam,
So he chose dinner.
She didn't initially approve,
She wanted open air,
where she could scream and rant,
Where she could tell him how broken he'd left her.
But they nibbled on their meals with occasional hurtful glances,
He could hear the resent in the way she held her fork to the dish, he could sense the anger in the way she clenched her teeth in her short breaths of reply.
It's been on for too long,
She pondered,
How long will she continue to live like this, she muttered.
To think that this man was her first love, now he was a stranger amidst a multitude of other ills.
He was getting impatient, he rolled his eyes every second, hoping she'd beckon that they leave.
She stood unannounced, barged out of the diner and started home.
He contemplated following her,but he eventually did, without back up from even himself.
He caught up with her, turned her briskly around and kissed her.
Passionately...
He kissed 10 years worth of pain away, hugged her for all the times he loved her but couldn't say,now she was in his arms.
They walked aimlessly in the rain.
He sighed .
He knew it couldn't be that easy,so he just ran after her and paid for her cab.
